![]() The remaining nine episodes of this season are known as the "Post-Duelist Kingdom/Pre-Battle City Game Arc", comprised of three mini-arcs, "The Wrath of Rebecca" (episodes 41-42), "Legendary Heroes" (episodes 43-45), and "Dungeon Dice Monsters" (46-49). Pegasus also plans to take over KaibaCorp so he can bring back his deceased wife, Cecelia Pegasus. Yugi's best friend, Joey Wheeler, also enters to earn prize money to prevent his sister, Serenity Wheeler, from going blind. Yugi enters to win back his grandfather's soul. He is holding a Duel Monsters tournament in which the winner recieves a prize of their choice. After Yugi Muto defeats the Duel Monsters world champion Seto Kaiba in a duel, Duel Monsters creator Maximillion Pegasus steals the soul of Yugi's grandfather, Solomon Muto, using his Millenium Eye. Episodes 1-40 are known as the Duelist Kingdom arc. ![]() The majority of this season is based on the first part of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist manga. Season One of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters premiered on April 10, 2000.
